Transport 5,000 tons of liquid bitumen, Thessaloniki (Greece) → Brașov.
In short, without polemics: what alternatives exist in the area and what makes GPO different.
Capacity ~6,000 tons, built 1999/2000, draft -7 m. Low automation, old equipment. Difficult rail operation — single-arm ramp, multiple maneuvers required for each wagon.
Capacity 15,000 tons, but only one 5,000 t tank in operation. Built 2004, low automation. No railway, only road access. ~50 km from Constanța, with longer transport times, especially in summer. The basin cannot be dredged — vessels with max. 3,000–3,500 t actual capacity (although the quay theoretically allows 5,000 t).
Planned capacity 5,000 t (1 tank), road and rail dispatch. In the association agreement phase, followed by CU and approvals. Exclusivity for a single trader for 10 years. Commissioning delayed by at least 2 years compared to GPO. State ownership → reduced commercial flexibility.
